Parker Earns Gamer of the Week Honors

Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc. and The Putnam Herald are pleased to present this week’s male Gamer of the Week to Grayson Parker of Winfield Swim!

Grayson Parker of Winfield Swim competed well at the Speedo Swim and Tri Winter Championships earning personal or season bests in the 50 free, 100 free, and 200 free in 24.55, 55.25, 2:02.33 respectively. The sophomore also competed well at the West Virginia Wild Winter Blast placing second in the 200 free and 500 free.  “The season has been going well. I haven’t swum too many events yet, but I am hoping to go under 2 minutes on the 200 free this season,” said Parker.

The 200 free and 200 medley relay teams that Parker was a member of also performed well earning a second and third place finish at the West Virginia Wild Winter Blast. “Grayson is a team leader on a talented swim squad. His hard work is paying off not just for himself but also brining up his teammates. Grayson is a leader on the team and helps teach and push other swimmers to perform at their best. He is a great person to be around and enjoy watching him compete,” said Head Coach Mike.

Parker says he has been swimming his whole life, and that his mother has been a big influence on his swimming. She put him on the swim team when he was 6 or 7 and has been a coach, encourager, and supporter ever since.  Parker went on to discuss why he likes the sport saying, “I like the people, everyone has always been really nice. It keeps me in pretty good shape and I just like swimming,” said Parker.

In addition to Swim, Parker is a member of the marching band at Winfield. Winfield Swim will be back in action on January 6th at Tri County YMCA for the New Year Kickoff.

Please look for other local high school athletes to be named in next week’s male Gamer of the Week Sponsored by Teays Physical Therapy Center, Inc., and The Putnam Herald.
